| Windsong Orchids Inc. was founded in 1989 when Stuart "Buzz" Baxter
and then partner Mark Hippler purchased Orchids By Vera from owner and
renowned Phalaenopsis breeder John Moses. The business was then moved
from Beloit Wisconsin to it's current location in Sycamore, Illinois.
Initially two greenhouses and a plant tissue culture lab were
constructed. Since that time the operation has expanded to five
greenhouses totaling about 15,000 sq. ft. of growing area. In 1992 Shane Fletcher joined the team after graduating from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Botany and Horticulture. Since that time Mark Hippler has moved on and the day to day operation is now managed by Shane. Windsong was primarily set up as a Phalaenopsis and Paphiopedilum breeding and growing facility with many quality stud plants. Since then our selection has increased to include many fine species and hybrids. We supply blooming Orchid plants to flower shops and garden centers throughout the Chicagoland area. We attend Orchid shows throughout the Midwest. We also offer orchid seed flasking for customers. |
